i was just speaking to an old friend last week over dinner, that i never really loved any of the guys i was with, and she commented that thats really sad.so i couldnt help but think, thats the way life is.you can never rely on one person completely, because humans are always prone to failing.if you give someone your heart, you are entrusting it entirely to him.because there is no halfway mark about love.like toni morrison wrote,it is or it aint.and by the same token, you commit yourself to care for the person unconditionally.its easy to want someone to do everything for you,but not so when you have to do the same in return.i've seen once too often how hearts are broken and i can well draw a lesson from them - never give your heart away.call me a skeptic and tell me im an asshole, but i will say this is self-protection.show me someone worthy who has the guts to change my mind.

at the expense of some unlucky soul who missed his flight back to munich,it was nice spending another few more days catching up and doing all the touristy stuff.amazing how you can share so much more with people you meet twice a year than you can ever with those you see 9hours a day.
while last year was all about having your cake and eating it too,im guessing the good luck will probably run out pretty quick.but that doesnt mean we shouldnt try.you know the direct relation between risk and reward.

i dont quite know what to make of the recent bintan trip, but i think staying in a hotel 30km away from the beach, walking in one direction for 20mins to reach the end of a town, watching hbo or playing computer games most of the time, and going to a dirty supermarket three times in five days sum up everything pretty well.

i think nothing beats seeing old friends over christmas and having a few (or many) drinks.what more when they come from some 3000 miles away.definitely one of the best christmas i've had.
so.i wouldnt say new year,new resolutions.i say,see you europe in 9 months.
